Application of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches combining chemistry, biology and computer science to expand knowledge about the structure and functioning of biological systems at various levels of their organisation. Basic research – in the field of: bioorganic and structural chemistry of nucleic acids; crystallography of proteins, nucleic acids and low-molecular compounds; molecular biology and genetic engineering; RNA biochemistry and biology; genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics and systems biomedicine – aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying both basic physiological processes and diseases in humans, animals and plants.
