Conference: ‘Culture and Memory – War and Peace’ (8–9 May 2025, Poznań)

On 8–9 May 2025, a nationwide academic conference entitled ‘Culture and Memory – War and Peace’ was held in Poznań, organised on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and devoted to issues of cultural memory in the context of war experiences and peace processes in Central and Eastern Europe.

Participants and topics

The event brought together researchers from various academic centres in Poland and abroad, as well as representatives of social groups who encounter the experience of war on a daily basis. The focus of reflection was on issues related to cultural memory, the representation of war in literature and art, memory politics, and the role of culture in shaping narratives about war and peace.

The Organisers

The event was co-organised by Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the University of Sarajevo, and the Slavic Studies Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań, which has been actively supporting scientific initiatives promoting an interdisciplinary approach to the problems of culture and history in Central and Eastern Europe for many years.
